3byThree is a project in which Matthew Chilelli, Ben Deloose, and Garrett Stiger discuss three different films in the course of three weeks. The 83rd Annual Academy Awards aired at the end of February, so during the month of March, we’ll be discussing three of the Best Picture nominees. Our second film is Pixar’s “Toy Story 3″. In part one, we discuss the film’s structure and the legacy of Pixar Animation Studios. Also, check out 3byThree on Twitter – twitter.com

Here’s the finished instructional animation on how to disassemble and reassemble a Glock 20. I created everything you see in this video (modeling, materials & lighting, rigging, animation, etc.) except of course for the G20′s design and Glock’s logo.

All the Computer Graphics from the Movie Tron. In full length and chronological order. This time it’s CGI! (The exception proves the rule. : ) This Version contains NO music from Wendy Carlos! (Diese Version enthält KEINE Musik von Wendy Carlos!) Sad not to hear the wonderful and unique soundtrack of W.Carlos but she, or maybe more the Record Company was not amused by my first Tribute – and it got deleted. So i try a Carlos-Music-Free version of the Tron CGI Shots Tribute this time. All Music is from ISAO TOMITA! Tried to keep the Spirit as far as possible… and Isao Tomita fits perfectly, in my humble opinion. The Scenes from 7:21 to 7:42 are NO CGI – they part CGI Stills – part handdrawn – part photographic Effects. But to late to cut them out now! Thanks for this hint vicentox1999!
Quote Wiki: “To create the computer animation sequences of Tron, Disney turned to the four leading computer graphics firms of the day: Information International Inc. of Culver City, California, who owned the Super Foonly F-1 (the fastest PDP-10 ever made and the only one of its kind); MAGI of Elmsford, New York; Robert Abel and Associates of California; and Digital Effects of New York City. Bill Kovacs worked on this movie while working for Robert Abel before going on to found Wavefront Technologies. More than 500 people were involved in the post-production work, including 200 inker and hand-painters in Taiwan. Tron has a distinctive visual style, as it was one of the first films from a …

The song “Still Alive” is a little past it’s prime today, and in fact I could have had this up in January, but I’d been trying since then to get usage permission from Valve software, with no response at all except some positive comment from songwriter Jonathan Coulton (Thanks John!). So – I’ll just recommend that everyone who likes the music either buy the game Portal, or the music CD/track downloads from Amazon. Hope you enjoy the vid.
